Greenville Indian Wedding Photographer | Thomas + Prexa’s Wedding

Oct 16, 2014

Three different venues. Three different outfits. Two types of ceremonies. Two types of receptions. Only one word needed – Incredible.

Thomas and Prexa’s Indian wedding was not only a highlight of the year, but a highlight of my career as a wedding photographer. From the people, to the food, to the culture, to the downright kindness of everyone involved, it was a truly incredible wedding.

It all started off with everyone getting ready at the beautiful Hyatt Recency in the heart of downtown Greenville. With some stunning outfits and jewelry from all over the world Prexa and Thomas looked absolutely stunning. We left for the Old Cigar Warehouse here in Downtown Greenville where Thomas was greeted warmly by Prexa’s parents. After parading him into the ceremony site, the stage was set for their Hindu Wedding Ceremony to begin. Filled with food, water, a few tears, and some fire, it was unlike anything I have ever seen before. Even though I didn’t fully understand everything being said (my Hindi is a bit rough), the beautiful symbolism was inherent in the actions they were taking. Tying a knot. Giving away the bride. Eating their first meal. Seven blessings over the couple.

With the Hindu ceremony behind us, we headed next door to Zen for the cocktail hour in the bamboo garden. With lamb lollipops, chicken satay, and stuffed sweet fig rolls being passed around it was a great chance for the guests to mingle and discuss the day’s events so far. Meanwhile, the incredibly gorgeous reception setup was being finished up inside. Complete with hundreds of candles, custom made centerpieces, and a 40-foot-long orchid chandelier suspended over the estate table, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Zen look so good. Thomas and Prexa were announced in and a quick Christian Ceremony unfolded. Rings were exchanged, vows said, and marriage license was signed. A few thoughtful toasts later, everyone was ready for some food. With a local Greenville food station, a Thai station, and and Indian food station, absolutely no one left hungry. Next door in the lotus lounge, the party kicked off with DJ Ravi, who came down from Washignton DC. And what an awesome party it was, with plenty of lively dancing complimenting the festive colors worn by everyone. It was definitely a site to behold.
