J. Jones Workshop 2013

Sep 25, 2013

I guess you can only hear “Josh! When are you going to do a workshop!?” so many times before you just have set aside some time and set it up. I honestly don’t know why I’ve waited so long: I love getting the opportunity to teach and truly enjoy helping others take their images to the next level! So now that I’ve finally worked out the details I’m beyond excited to be offering our very first photography workshop later this year. Here are all the details:

J. Jones Workshop 2013

November 23rd & 24th – Greenville, SC | $450

This workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to take their wedding and portrait business to the next level. Whether you’ve only been shooting for six months, or you’ve run your own business for years, we will show you how to improve your images and grow your business. Day 1 will focus on all the photography aspects of wedding and portrait shoots and Day 2 will focus entirely on business and workflow. You should be familiar with the basics of camera operation (shutter speed, aperture ect.) as we will not have time to cover all the basics.

20130907_keowee_key_country_club_wedding_0739Day 1 – We will begin at 9am with a discussion on how to create incredible wedding images throughout all parts of the wedding day. We will start with how to photograph stunning “getting-ready” style images, bridal parties, the ceremony itself, the formal family photos, couples pictures, and shooting throughout the reception. This won’t just be a lecture, I will show examples of how I’ve developed a style and improved my images in each area over the years. We will talk about how to overcome challenging lighting, difficult environments, and crunched timelines in order to provide the best possible images in any situation.

After lunch (included) we will go outside in challenging midday sun to demonstrate how to make awesome images, even when the light is harsh and direct. After this we will go back inside to have a discussion on composition & framing, use of off-camera lighting, and selecting the right gear. Around sunset we will head to downtown Greenville to do a live couples shoot. We will show live examples of posing, how to use lighting to flatter your subjects, and how to create dynamic images in any environment. After the shoot we can head out for dinner (self-pay) to chat more and answer questions, and relax and have fun.

Day 2 – The second day will be focused entirely on business. We will start off at 1pm with a discussion on how I run my business, marketing and SEO, finding and booking clients that value your work, and effective pricing strategies. We will also talk about after wedding workflow from downloading and culling all the way to delivering finished images to clients. We will end with a nothing-off-limits question and answer time.

Sound interesting?

Please contact us to sign up! Space is very limited as we are going to keep this workshop smaller in size so that we can have plenty of time for questions and individual attention.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
