I’m not sure what was going through my head when I decided to climb that tree. It was just a few minutes after their ceremony and we were walking around Gaffney trying to find the perfect place to capture some shots of Sarah and Sam. With the spring flowers being in bloom in the distance it thought it might be the perfect spot… except when we walked over there, there wasn’t really a good way to get a clean shot without the powerlines and street signs in the background. My solution? Climb up a 30 foot flowering bradford pear tree and shoot down through it. Great idea! … The shot looked great and Sarah and Sam loved it. Only one problem. My head was now bleeding from the branch that took a scratch at me on the way up. Debra (being the excellent wife and creative assistant she is at weddings) kept pressure on my bleeding forehead as we kept shooting, which made for quite a scene and got some awesome reactions from Sarah, Sam, and just about anyone else who saw the craziness. Anything for the shot!
After my battle wound stopped bleeding, we headed over to the beautiful Piedmont Club in Spartanburg, SC. It was decked out with lots of beautiful flowers (seriously, these guys had multiple florists!), a stunning ice sculpture, crystal chandeliers, and even an airplane themed grooms cake. Why an airplane? If you have followed my blog for awhile you may remember Sarah and Sam’s airport engagement session, which was quite befitting of a couple of pilots. Everyone danced the night away at the Piedmont Club to the sounds of The Entertainer’s and everything wrapped up with a flower peddle laced exit. A perfect ending to a beautiful spring wedding (minus the “souvenir” on my head).
Hope you guys are enjoying St. Lucia! I’m totally jealous!
