Rain is a funny thing. It can be a very good thing, and at times it can be… well… not so good. At our vineyard, rain is usually very welcome, but at weddings… not always so much. Or is it? Despite the incoming rain showers Danielle held fast to having her ceremony outside, which I was actually looking forward to. Having done over 200 weddings I can’t remember another one I shot outside in the rain. A new adventure!

And it was definitely an adventure for all involved. Some stayed complete dry, and others… not so much. I ended up holding an umbrella in the same hand as my camera running around trying to get some different angles. It was actually quite a bit of fun getting to shoot through all the umbrellas, and the rain made for some fun reflections off the ground.

With the memorable ceremony out of the way, the rains calmed down and we headed into the tent just outside the Gassaway Mansion for an absolutely stunning reception filled with plenty of gorgeous decor and wet, yet loving family members. Dancing, speeches, and cake filled the night before the sparkler exit. No rain jacket needed! Check it out!
