Back when I was just getting into photography I used to go out all the time and try to make some awesome night photos. There was just something about night photography that really intrigued me. Maybe it was the fact that you have a TON of control over the light or maybe it was just the fact that if you leave the shutter open and a car drives by you get these cool light streaks!
Anyways I went out around downtown Greenville, SC with my good friend Dan last Monday to see if I still had it in me to do some night photos. I got a few shots that didn’t turn out too bad!

Here is a lesson to everyone else out there that is concerned about taking people pictures on an overcast day. Listen: Just because the sky is cloudy and gray doesn’t mean your photos will turn out dull and lifeless.
True story: Leslie called me up the day of our shoot just before she took the hour and a half long trip from Columbia to Greenville to do the engagement photos. She asked if we should reschedule because it was so cloudy and dull looking out. I told her absolutely not; one because Johnathan had to head back overseas in a few days until just before the wedding, and also because I described to her how overcast skies diffuse the light and create something totally beautiful!
Well she must have trusted me because she showed up to take the photos! And WOW did they turn out awesome! Her and Johnathan have a great chemistry together and are a blast to hang out with. Just check out some of these photos!
