Stunning Wedding at the Crest Center in Asheville, NC

What a gorgeous spring we have been having so far this year! I guess we earned it after such a cold winter and rainy summer last year, which probably also makes it feel even better than it really is. Either way, this is my absolute favorite time of year. And Heather and Joe got married on my favorite weekend of the year. Why is that? Because we also got married the same weekend just two years ago.

Their day was absolutely stunning. Standing up in front of all their family and friends with picturesque views of the blue ridge mountains rolling behind them, it was hard not to be excited. They were getting married, with or without a very pesky veil which tried to steal the show during the ceremony. After an emotional ceremony, a small cake meltdown, some very personal speeches were made, and the party started… and didn’t die down all night. Partying under the gorgeous lights and decor of the Crest Center, it was the perfect start for Heather and Joe’s life together.

Beautiful Spring Wedding at Twigs Tempietto | Kristi + Travis

Usually one of the first things a bride and groom will tell me after their wedding was just how quick it went. While I’ll usually agree with them, most weddings really do fly by. Kristi and Travis’s wedding didn’t just fly by, you honestly couldn’t have gone to the bathroom and back in the time their ceremony took. I timed it… 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Faster than even the courthouse wedding I shot last year!

Well I guess, when you know, you know. And by the time you are standing at the alter, you better know! Kristi and Travis definitely didn’t have much time to second guess their decision, but even if they had more time, I know it wouldn’t have changed their minds. These two are absolutely enamored with each other.

A Surprise Falls Park Proposal | Philip + Elisa

As we sat at our table at Passerelle Bistro, I couldn’t help but feel like a pair of Russian spies. You see, we had been watching Philip and Elisa out of the corner of our eye as we snacked on some fresh croissants, waiting for Philip to get up and take Elisa out of the restaurant for a little walk around falls park. The wait grew longer and longer, and I could see Philip starting to nervously play with his napkin as the check came. She had no idea what was going to happen. Finally, they were off, with us trailing them shortly behind, armed with enough camera gear to photograph a small army. My wife, Debra, was there as my decoy in case we were spotted, a beautiful subject for the portrait session I would pretend to shoot as I watched Philip and Elisa out of the corner of my eye. We followed them to the waterfall undetected.. when all of a sudden, it happened.

Downtown Greenville SC Bridal Shoot | Kristi

I had never expected him to come along to Kristi’s bridal shoot. Yes, the him I’m talking about is that him. The groom. The future husband. Her fiance. And yet, it was really freeing and fun. No longer did I have to hold him captive from the photos before the wedding. It was actually quite symbolic to have him carry her dress and hold her view in between shots. Even though he saw the real deal that day, it was important that I hide the rest of these photos from the guests until after their wedding, which was just this past weekend. So now that they are public, I can share them here, much to his enjoyment. Enjoy!
