I had never expected him to come along to Kristi’s bridal shoot. Yes, the him I’m talking about is that him. The groom. The future husband. Her fiance. And yet, it was really freeing and fun. No longer did I have to hold him captive from the photos before the wedding. It was actually quite symbolic to have him carry her dress and hold her view in between shots. Even though he saw the real deal that day, it was important that I hide the rest of these photos from the guests until after their wedding, which was just this past weekend. So now that they are public, I can share them here, much to his enjoyment. Enjoy!
It had been a fun day already, I had already captured some stunning bridal portraits (soon to come), a secret proposal in falls park just moments before (see our facebook page), and I still had Andrew and Amanda’s engagement session to go. And what a great way to finish it all out. Recently moving down from Pennsylvania, they had a lot to be grateful for, the weather… and also each other.
I remember back in June of 2012 when Amanda booked me way in advance for her spring 2014 wedding. She said it was going to be at a wedding venue called Castle Ladyhawke, deep in the mountains of Western North Carolina. This of course, immediately perked my interest… was it the real thing… or just another pop up wedding venue calling themselves a castle in order to book more weddings. Well I’m happy to report, that after two years of anticipation, that this thing was the real deal. Castle Ladyhawke is a stunning all stone castle set on 60 acres of beautiful North Carolina mountainside. It’s got a full spiral staircase, multiple towers, a room filled with dragons (no joke!), secret passageways, and of course… some pretty epic views.
With so much time to plan, Amanda and William thought of everything; from creating customized details to picking the food and color choices. With the helpful touches by Occasion’s by Emily Event planning, the stage was set for an absolutely incredible day. And I kid you not, it was one of the most genuine, emotional, and yet fun wedding’s I’ve had the honor of documenting. Amanda and William are just two of the most kind, considerate people you could ever have the privilege of knowing, and it oozed from every part of their wedding day: from the emotional ceremony, to the incredibly thoughtful speeches, and just the way they look at each other. It’s weddings like this that make me incredibly grateful to do what I get to do.

I always love when people can plan their engagement sessions during those couple weeks when it seems like all the spring flowers are in bloom. Chelsea and Hunter hit it just about perfect!
I met up with Chelsea and Hunter on an absolutely gorgeous spring day here in Greenville, SC a couple weeks ago. With their wedding still over a year out, it was a great time to get to know each other and learn some more about their wedding next year. Thanks for having me!
