For some reason, weddings around the 4th of July are always really special. Last year it was capturing two of my good friends, Christi and Nick’s wedding in downtown Greenville, and a few years before we captured Kristen’s wedding in the Dominican Republic. This year was also extremely special, as we volunteered to be the photographers at the Warrior’s Wedding. What is the Warrior’s wedding you ask? Hosted at the renovated Wilkins House here in Greenville, it was a beautiful high end wedding that was awarded to one lucky military veteran. The best thing is that all the vendors did everything completely pro-bono, leaving this very lucky couple with an incredible day, without the huge payment.
That very lucky couple was Laura and Shawn, who applied and were picked from a panel of judges to win the free wedding. Shawn spent many years in the Iraq and other areas, and suffered some nerve damage as a result of his service. It was incredible to give back to the military men and women who service our country everyday, and really made us proud to be Americans. It was also one of the very first weddings at the renovated Wilkin’s house since it was incredibly moved down the street (previously known as Augusta Manor). It was an incredible day, with incredible stories behind it. – Thank you again for your service Shawn, and we hope you enjoy the photos of your landmark day!
Thanks again Shawn and Laura, and thank you again to all the veterans out there! Without you, we couldn’t have the honor to photograph weddings in this wonderful country.
